Roger Fry, Vanessa Bell, Duncan Grant and Carrington are
among the thirteen artists represented in this book. All
of them were primarily painters or sculptors who experimented
briefly with woodcuts and linocuts between 1911 and 1921.
Judith Collins has written an extended essay putting these
cuts in the context of the revival of the woodcut in Europe
at the beginning of the twentieth century.
The text is greatly enhanced by extensive quotations from
the writings of Roger Fry, Vanessa Bell, Carrington, Virginia
and Leonard Woolf and others.
148 pages, 347 x 255mm, showing 165 cuts (17 in colour),
printed on Stockwell acid-free paper, bound in full cloth
with
endpapers
based on one of the Omega Workshops' pattern papers, in
a slipcase.
